MBA Faculty 2005-2006

August 24, 2005

In-Service Draws To Close

Yesterday marked the conclusion of faculty and staff in-service and a positive and exciting tone was set for the upcoming school year. All athletic coaches met early in the morning to discuss expectations for both players and coaches while on the field. Athletic Director Jeff Rutledge also emphasized the importance of MBA boys' involvement in multiple sports rather than specializing in only one.

Academic departments convened during the morning as well. Department chairs discussed procedures and policies for the curricula. Following these opening meeting, several members of the student council officially welcomed the faculty back to campus and offered their views and hopes for the new year.

Academic Dean Alan Coverstone spoke about the challenges MBA students face and encouraged faculty and coaches to nurture and empathize with them while forging solid relationships with their students. Technology Director Jason Hiett discussed the upcoming launch of montgomerybell.edu, MBA's revamped web site. He also highlighted the technological improvements to campus including a wireless hub in the faculty room and an increased number of LCD projectors mounted in classrooms.

Director of Admissions Robert Black talked about the incoming class of students as well as plans for this year's admissions efforts. Director of Alumni and Development Scott O'Neal followed and spoke about the school's continued to need to focus on marketing in a variety of forums.

In-service concluded with MBA alumnus Renard Francois ('90) reflecting on his time while on The Hill. He poignantly recalled some difficult and exceptional moments during his high school career recounting that it was the support and caring of the MBA community that propelled him towards living confidently and successfully.

Today is the final day off for faculty members prior to the start of the school year.
