March 30: Varsity Track: MBA 176, Brentwood High 39, BGA 26, Pearl-Cohn 15
March 31: The Junior School track team defeated Brentwood Academy, Ensworth, and FRA Thursday. The score was MBA- 105, Ens- 43, BA-42, FRA-33. Aaron Barrett was first in the discus. Patrick Crum finished first in the long jump, the 200 and the 400. Leland Howe was first in the hurdles. Rob Higham finished first in the mile. The relay team of Perry Webb, Reggie Ford, Tee Griscom, and Alex Martin finished first in the 4x100 and the 4x200 meter relays. Congratulations to Baker Mulherin who not only won the pole vault but also broke the MBA Junior School record by vaulting 11'4".
April 2: MBA captured the 23rd annual Mid-South Track Classic at the McCallie School in Chattanooga defeating 9 other teams. This is the first time in the 23 years of this southern private school invitational that MBA has won this major track meet. Even though MBA did not win a single event, great team depth provided the edge to win this meet. MBA scored 104 points and outdistanced McCallie with 99, Atlanta Marist with 90, Atlanta Saint Pius X with 82, and Atlanta Lovett with 80. Individuals scoring second places were Brock Baker in the 3200, Preston Adams in the high jump, and Rich Tompkins in the 300 intermediate hurdles. April 3: The Junior School Track team won the Highland Games on Saturday. First place finishers were: Taylor Land, Nick Williams, Alex Apple, and Rob Higham in the 4x800; Leland Howe, Alex Martin, and Tyler Paslick in the Shuttle Hurdles; Perry Webb, Leland Howe, Alex Martin, and Patrick Crum in the 4x200; Owen Lipscomb, Perry Webb, Leland Howe, and Patrick Crum in the 4x400; Joseph Sloan, Austin Locke, Scott Bubis, Owen Lipscomb, Alexander Hornbuckle, Andrew Phillips, Neil Ryan, Harrison Stringfellow, and Taylor Land pulled their way to victory in the Tug-o-war.
April 9: The Junior School Track team finished second in the Inman Relays on Saturday. Leland Howe vaulted 12' to set the new record for MBA.
April 11: The Junior School Track team traveled to David Lipscomb on Monday and defeated Lipscomb, Siegel, and Heritage Middles. First place finishers included Scott Bubis in the discus, Leland Howe in the pole vault, Alex Martin in the hurdles, Baker Mulherin in the mile, Rob Higham in the 800, Patrick Crum in the 200, and Perry Webb, Baker Mulherin, Joseph Sloan and Owen Lipscomb in the 4 x 400 meter relay.
April 12: Varsity - MBA 114, Hillsboro 58, MLK 55, Hume Fogg 21. Andy Snyder won the pole vault and 300 IM's. Check the track webpage for full results.
April 15: The Junior School Track team competed Friday at Harpeth Hall and won the meet by defeating Brentwood Academy, BGA, and Ensworth. First place finishers were: Patrick Crum in the Long Jump, High Jump, 100, 200, and 400; Perry Webb, Tee Griscom, Reggie Ford, and Alex Martin in the 4x200; Baker Mulherin in the 800 and the 1600 where he finished in a tie with Rob Higham; and Leland Howe who won the Hurdles and broke his own MBA pole vault record by vaulting 12'3".
April 16: MBA won the Doug Hall Relays on Saturday afternoon in a really true team effort. MBA won four events Discus Relay, Pole Vault Relay, shuttle hurdle relay, and Distance Medley relay. See the web page for results.
April 20: The Freshman Track team finished 3rd out of 17 teams in the City Championship at MBA. Winning individual crowns were Christian Waddey in the pole vault, Ben Bartholomew in the shot put, and Tyler Ramsden in the 1600.
April 21-23: In the Vanderbilt Great 8 on Thurs, Jay Pilkerton won the discus, Preston Adams second in the high jump, Andy Snyder second in the pole vault, and Brock Baker second in the 3200. On Saturday at the Rossview Invitational, Andrew Pitman won the 800, Charlie Plagman was 2nd in the high jump, Michael Swett second in the discus, David Reynolds second in the 3200, and David Smith second in the 800. April 25: The Junior School track team won a big meet against BMS, DCA, GMS, and WMS on Friday. First place finishers were: Scott Bubis in the Discus; Joseph Sloan in the Shot; Alex Martin in the high jump; Leland Howe in the pole vault and hurdles; Baker Mulherin in the 1600 and 800; and Patrick Crum in the 100, 200, and 400.
April 26: MBA's Varsity Track team moved into second place with 57.5 points to Hunters Lane 61 in the O'Charley's Nashville Track and Field Championships. 3200 Finals are on Wednesday and finals of rest of runnning events will be Friday night. Jay Pilkerton was the only individual to win a City Championship with a victory in the discus. Check the website for more details.
April 27: The MBA Varsity Track team ran well at Harpeth Hall last Friday night finishing second out of 18 teams in the O'Charley's Nashville Track and Field Championships. In the running events, Chamliss Shillinglaw won the open 800 and teamed up with Andrew Pittman, Michael Pierce, and David Smiith to win the 3200 m relay, and teamed up with Jay Pilkerton, Matt Catt, and Andy Snyder to win the 1600 m relay. May 3: The Junior School Track Team won the HVAC Track and Field Championship meet yesterday. It was truly a team victory with scoring coming in every event. Medal winners were as follows: Joseph Sloan took 2nd in the shot put, and 3rd in the discus; Scott Bubis was 2nd in the discus; Leland Howe finished 2nd in the pole vault, and 1st in the hurdles; Baker Mulhering tripled by taking 1st in the pole vault, 1st in the mile, and 1st in the 800; Patric Crum was 1st in the high jump, 1st in the long jump, 3rd in the 100, 1st in the 400, and 1st in the 200; Perry Webb, Reggie Ford, Tee Griscom, and Alex Martin were 2nd in the 4x100 relay; Alex Martin was 3rd in the hurdles;and Rob Higham was 2nd in the mile. May 4: Jay Pilkerton is first after first day of region decathlon, Matt Cate third and Rich Tompkins 5th. Decathlon continues May 5 at 3:30. More details online.
May 17: The Region Track meet running event finals are set for 6:00 Friday on the McDaniel Track at MBA. MBA will at least one participant in each event. In the field events on Tuesday, Chambliss Shillinglaw, Andy Snyder, and Michael Swett qualified for state competition next Friday.
May 20: The MBA Varsity Track team finished second in the region on Friday night. MBA qualified individual and 4 relay teams for the State Meet at Briarcrest on Friday. Individuals qualifying are: Michael Swett, Jay Pilkerton, Billy Billington, Chamblis Shillinglaw, Andy Snyder, Brock Baker, Ryan Burns, and Rich Tompkins. Jay Pilkerton, Matt Cate, & Rich Tompkins compete in the state decatlon at MBA on Monday and Tuesday.
