March 14: MBA competed against Siegal High School from Murfreesboro Monday afternoon.
MBA won 7-2. Team Record 1-0. Next Match vs Ravenwood on 03-28-2005
March 28: MBA Varsity Tennis defeated Ravenwood 8-1. The next match is Thursday vs USN. Team Record 2-0
March 31: MBA Varsity Tennis defeated USN 6-00, bringing the team Record to 3-0. The next match is Tuesday, April 5, at BGA.
March 31: The JS tennis team had its first match of the season on Thurs. and lost to a very talented Woodland Middle Schol team, 4-1. Our sole victory was at #1 singles, Roger Briggs winning 8-2.
April 4: The Junior School tennis team won their match, 4-1, against a solid Grassland Middle School team. Winners included all three singles matches, Roger Briggs, Richard Brunsting and Michael Seitz, and #1 doubles, Chris Vaughan & Jake Hymes.
April 5: The Varsity Tennis team defeated BGA 9-0. Team Record 4-0. Next Match Thursday at McCallie 3-30PM EDT
April 5: The Junior School tennis team won its match against Brentwood Academy, 4-1. MBA swept the singles -- Roger Briggs, Richard Brunsting, and Michael Seitz -- and won #1 doubles with Chris Vaughan and Andy Stack.
April 11: The JS tennis team swept its match against USN, winning all three singles (Roger Briggs, Richard Brunsting & Michael Seitz) and the two doubles matches (Chris Vaughan & Jake Hymes at #1, Chris Anderson & Andy "Bus" Stack at #2).
April 12: MBA's Varsity Tennis team defeated BA 9-0. The team record is now 6-0, with the next match at Mountain Brook Friday Apr15.
April 12: The Junior School tennis squad swept its match Tues. against DCA, 5-0. Everyone won convincingly. Our record is now 4-1.
April 13: The Junior School tennis team swept its matches against Harding Academy yesterday. Winners were singles players Roger Briggs, Richard Brunsting, and Michael Seitz, and doubles teams Jake Hymes and Chris Vaughan (#1), and Chris Anderson and Andy Stack (#2). Our team record is now 5-1.
April 15-16: Varsity Tennis Results: Friday MBA 6 Mountain Brook, AL 3; Saturday MBA 8 Vestavia Hills, AL 1; Team Record 8-0.
April 18: Varsity Tennis Result: MBA 9 John Paul 2 0; Team Record 9-0; next match Apr. 19 at Father Ryan
April 18: The JS tennis team lost its match against BMS, 4-1. Our only winner was #1 doubles team of Jake Hymes and Chris Anderson. The team is now gearing up for our HVAC tournament starting next Mon., here at MBA.
April 19: Varsity Tennis Result: MBA 6 Father Ryan 0 Team Record 10-0
April 21: The Varsity Tennis Team defeated Webb School 6-0. Team Record is now11-0. The next match is Thursday April 28 vs Lone Oak. Singles victories from Daniel Patten, Adam Speyer & Nick Anand.
April 27: The JS tennis team won 2nd place overall in the HVAC tournament.We narrowly lost to a solid Woodland MS team, 10 victories to 9. Two of our singles players, Roger Briggs (#1) and Richard Brunsting (#2), made the finals, as did our #2 doubles team of Chris Anderson and Andy Stack, and Roger won his bracket, allowing him to lay claim to being the HVAC's best player. A strong ending to an excellent season for our squad.
April 29-30: The Carter Invitational went off well despite poor weather and moving the sites to Vanderbilt and Hadley Park. St. Xavier (KY) won the A Division by a huge margin and Webb School from Knoxville won the B Division. MBA placed 5th in the A Division. MBA won the consolation doubles in the #1 and #3 Flights. Adam Baker/Chad Hume and Jeremy Pinsley/Matt Evans each had good wins. Many thanks to Dr.Bailey & Dr.Kinch as well as Andrew Mills
May 6: St. Xavier 5 MBA 2, Good Singles Victories from Matt Evans and Chad Hume. Team Record 11-1. Next Up Individual Region at MBA.
The Varsity Tennis Team finished as Div 2 State Runners-Up for the 2nd year in a row. This year marked the 5th straight year that MBA has made the final. The team's final record was 13-2. The only losses came against Kentucky state champ St.Xavier and Tennessee State Champ MUS. The team was the Middle Region Champion for the 5th Staright year. Highlights of this year were 4-3 victories over McCallie and Baylor in the State Semi-Finals. The Tennis team will graduate 6 of its top 7 players. These seniors have worked hard and represented themselves, MBA and the tennis program with pride.
