Summer 2005: National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association
2004-2005 All-America Swimmers and Divers results have been posted. Paul Crook, Van Diehl, Curtis Lovelace, and Tom Wiseman all made the cut. Click on All American to check out their national ranking and times.
November 20: Results from Middle TN Middle School Swimming Invitational: MBA 453, CMS 268, USN 232, FRA 128, MHMS 47. Our boys dominated the competition going 1, 2, and 3 (this was only b/c we were limited to 3 scoring entries in each event) in most events. I have worked with many great athletes and teams over the last 17 years, but I've never enjoyed such a decisive win. You even out scored Harpeth Hall's middle school team. Nice job, boys!
December 8: The Swim Team had a good meet yesterday. Many people had best times and races well swum. The final score was FHS 91, MBA 78. We led the meet until event 15. We won 7 out of 11 events.
January 8: Congratulations to MBA Jr. School Swim team on winning their second invitational. MBA won 10 out of 11 events and placed 1st and 2nd in many events. A big THANK YOU to our parent supporter who made the trip to Sewanee and to those who helped officiate the meet. Swimming is a sport that depends on parent support to run swim meets and we have great parents.
January 11: MBA Swimming and Diving teams lost a hard fought meet against Brentwood High School. We had many best times and top finishes but lacked the depth to prevail. The team continues to make good progress as they prepare for Region and State meet in February. Thanks to all those who showed support.
January 25: MBA's swim team, led by Curtis Lovelace, Van Diehl, Paul Crook and Tom Wiseman, defeated Father Ryan on Tuesday. Posting great times and contributing to the effort were "Neon" Deion, double threats Tripp "Read This Notecard" Rebrovik, Will "Hold on" Hackett, Tyler "Running" Ramsden, and Alan "Hoss" Higgens. In a special note, Clint "Acrobat" Atkins finished third in the diving behind Spencer Cummings to complete the 1-3 finish for the Big Red. And in a glimpse to the future, MBA's microbe swim team beat Father Ryan's JV team and even defeated their Varsity in one relay. Congratulations to the Big Red.
February 11-12: MBA Swimming and Diving team tied for region champion with Hendersonville High School last night in one of the most exciting region meets in several years. This was a team effort with several outstanding swims and dives. Paul Crook is a two time region champion in the 100 and 200 freestyle! Curtis Lovelace is the region champion in the 100 breaststroke as a freshman! We had two second place relays maned by Tom Wiseman, Van Diehl, Curtis Lovelace, and Paul Crook. A big thanks to Spencer Cumming who got us started on Thursday night with his second place finish in diving. This a great finish to get us ready for state championships.
February 24-25: The MBA swimming and diving teams tied for 4th at the state meet. This is the second highest place we have even achieved. Curtis Lovelace is the 2005 State Champion in the 100 breaststroke (an amazing accomplishment, especially for a freshman!). The team swam well as a whole setting new MBA records and achieving all American status in many events. I can't remember a state meet with so many exciting swims and dives. This was a great performance for our boys.
