News / Notes:
March 16: MBA at BA: 3-0. The MBA varsity soccer team started off the season as they went to play against BA. MBA started off with a really nice corner from Zach Richardson, which was then headed towards the goal by Weston Cowden and finished off by Alex Darsinos. Jeff Glaser scored a brilliant goal later in the first half after Zach hit a beautiful through ball. In the second half, Alex Darsinos scored again to make the final score 3-0. Jonathan Gotterer earned the shutout in goal.
March 17 : JV Soccer beat Overton 2-1 on goald by Jonathan Haynes and Dylan Burroughs.
March 17: Varsity Soccer beat Overton 5-2: Jeff Glaser had 2 goals, Alexander Darsinos had 2 goals, and John Turner had 1 goal!!
March 29: MBA at Webb: 9-0. The MBA soccer team went all the way to Webb to play a weak side. Although the score ended 9-0, the highlights of the game were Alex Darsinos’ scoring 3 goals, and Jimmy Okot and Tyler Yarbrough having beautiful goals for their first goals of the season.
April 5: MBA (JV) at Ravenwood: 1-0. The MBA JV soccer team played there second game at Ravenwood. . Andrew Gibbs scored in the first half giving MBA the lead, but the team then MBA sat back in the second half and were not able to find the back of the net again.
April 11: MBA vs. USN: 0-0. The MBA soccer team hosted USN on April 11. Although MBA dominated the entire game, they could not find the back of the net. USN, with a total of 2 shots, sat back and played defense during the whole game. MBA did not adjust well to this tactic and did not score, even though they had 14 shots.
April 13: MBA (JV) at Blackman: 0-4. MBA’s JV soccer team went to Blackman to play a very talented Blackman side. Even though it was a hard fought game, Blackman capitalized on some poor marking in the midfield to beat the Big Red.
April 15: MBA vs. BGA: 2-4. The MBA soccer team hosted BGA on April 15. Although MBA had a large turnout for the game, they were unsuccessful on the pitch. Both Jeff Glaser and Jordan Keckley scored in the first half with assists by Alex Darsinos and John Turner, respectively. The half ended at 2-2, which then gave way to an important second half. However, BGA scored two headers, putting the game away.
April 22: MBA (JV) vs. BA: 3-0. MBA’s JV soccer team hosted a really good BA side. Chipo Mulaisho, the MBA goalie, had an incredible game, stopping a penalty kick early on, and later stopping a volley in front of the goal. Due to Chipo’s performance, MBA was able to make things happen up front. Alex Owing scored a beautiful goal, which was then followed by an incredible shot by Dane Ferre, who nailed one in the upper 90. MBA continued to dominate the game in the second half. MBA again found the back of the net when Jonathan Haynes had a beautiful run and laid it off to Alex Owings.
April 23: MBA at Centennial: 4-0. The MBA soccer team went to Centennial to play against a pretty strong side. Though the weather was terrible and very cold, MBA pulled off an important win. Jordan Keckley and Zach Richardson scored in the first half; both of which were beautiful goals. As MBA went into the second half, the game was already sealed, with MBA controlling most of the game. Alex Darsinos scored near the middle of the half. Soon after, Jeff Glaser scored a beautiful goal to seal the win.
April 25: MBA vs. Ravenwood :1-0. MBA continued to improve as they faced a much improved and physical Ravenwood team. MBA scored on a corner kick from Drew Andrews who sent the ball across to a charging Andrew Gibbs who headed the ball past the Ravenwood goalie. Chipo Mulaisho continued to shine in goal, but when he was injured in the second half, Austin Musice volunteered to play goalie and he came up with two tremendous saves to preserve the victory.
April 26: MBA defeated Hillsboro 4-0. Scoring for MBA were Jeff Glaser (2), Jared Hobbs (1), and John Turner (1), with 2 assists from Aelx Darsinos and 1 assisted from Drew Andrews.
April 27: The MBA Varsity Soccer team beat Franklin 4-0 on goals by John Turner, Nick Roda, and Alex Darsinos (with two). Jonathan Gotterer had the shutout in goal.
April 27: JV Soccer beat Franklin 1-0 on a tremendous goal by Andrew Gibbs. Austin Musice again did an outstanding job as goalie to get the shutout!
May 11: JV Soccer ended their season with a 3-0 win over Brentwood Academy. Alec Martin led the scoring with a goal and an assist. Goals were also scored by Alex Owings and McLean Beto. The JV ends their season 8-4.
May 12: MBA Varsity 1 - JPII 0 - next round will be played at Father Ryan
May 17: Varsity Soccer: MBA beat BGA 2-1 Tuesday which places them in the finals - 4:30 Thursday at BGA.
May 19: Varsity Soccer lost 2-0 to Father Ryan to finish second in the region. They travel to Memphis Wednesday for the State Playoffs.
