| News and Notes: |
| September 28: The bowling team opened the season with
a disappointing 21 - 6 loss at Father Ryan. Returning starter Rand Woodson
was the only bright spot for the Big Red as he rolled 216, 212, and 158
to win all three of his games. Senior Hunter Koplald won two of his matches
with a 148 and 140. Junior Denis Bermudez also one his opening match with
a 172. Senior Michael Crum rolled a 188 and senior david Robinson chipped
in a 152. The match was close after the first game, but the Fighting Irish
jumped out to a big lead in the second game and then coasted to an easy
victory. The team will regroup and head to Bell Buckle on Wednesday for
a match against bowling powerhouse Webb. |
| October 5: The MBA bowling team traveled to Shelbyville
to take on powerful Webb School. It was a dominating performance by MBA
starters with Rand Woodson rolling 179, 187, Michael Crum tossing 191 and
193 before giving way to the reserves who perserved a 22 - 5 victory. Denis
Bermudez had a 160, James Michael a 157, and rookie Houston Creighton rolled
a 138 to win his game. |
| October 6: MBA hosted upstart Ensworth High School and
delivered a 25 - 2 spanking to the young orange tigers. Rand Woodson again
led the way with a 203 and 181 and Michael Crum rolled a 164 and 172. Ray
Henson came off the bench and tossed a 176 to lead the subs in another
dominating performance. The Big Red improved their record to 2 - 1 on the
season with key matches against BA and BGA coming up. |
| October 10: MBA defeated Brentwood Academy 23 - 4 to
continue the Big Red homecoming domination of the Eagles in front of an
enthusiastic crowd at Hillwood Strike and Spare. The Big Red machine was
led by Rand Woodson - 202, Denis Bermudez - 192, Michael Crum - 170, David
Robinson - 170, and Will Andrews - 170. The second team took over in the
3rd match and dominated the Eagle starters to ensure the easy victory. |
| October 12: On Wednesday, the Big Red broke out against
a strong BGA squad with a convincing 21 - 6 victory. Rand Woodson rolled
248, 235, and 179 and Michael Crum contributed a 216, 195, and 189 to lead
the Big Red in a tight match. Hunter Kopald rolled 176, 163, and 150 and
David Robinson pitched in with a 161 to put the Big Red over the top. The
team has improved their record to 4 - 1 with huge matches against Father
Ryan and JP2 next week. |
| October 17: MBA lost to Father Ryan 19 - 8. The Big
Red kept pace for the first match, but quickly faded as the Irish juggernaut
rolled over the Big Red. Superb performances were turned in by Rand Woodson
245, 222, 182, James Michael - 178 and David Robinson - 184. |
| October 19: MBA traveled to Hendersonville and was buried
by JP2 23 - 4. There were no highlights. |
