Meet the College Counseling Staff

Terry Giffen, MBA's Director of College Counseling, came to Nashville in 2002 from TASIS, The American School in England, where he served as Assistant Headmaster, Dean of Admission, and Head of the Upper Schoool from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that he had been the Director of College Counseling at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut for the previous eleven years. A graduate of Allegheny College, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in English and Master's Degree in Education, Terry began his career as an English teacher and coach (football and wrestling) in northeastern Ohio. He held similar positions at The Kiski School in Pennsylvania where also became the Director of College Counseling and Testing. Following that appointment, he returned to his alma mater and served as Associate Dean of Admissions and was later named Dean of Admissions at Coe College in Iowa. Terry is a member of NACAC (The National Association oaf College Admission Counselors), CEEB (The College Entrance Examination Board), and the Counselors' Advisory Board for U.S. News and World Report's Annual College Ranking Issue. Additionally, he has served as a consultant to several other independent schools both here and abroad.

Dick Klausner, MBA '73, Associate Director of College Counseling, returned to his alma mater in 1996 to teach English and coach soccer. Prior to that, he served as the Chair of the English Department and Head Soccer Coach at Aspen Country Day School from 1978 to 1986 and at the Francis Parker School in San Diego where he held similar roles. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Dick earned his Master's Degree in Comparative Literature at the University of California at Irvine. He is also a member of NACAC, NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America), and the NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English).

Rosanne Nutkis, Office Manager, joined the College Counseling team at MBA in July of 2004. The mother of two current MBA students (Jeffery '10 and James '07) and one daughter (Jennifer SCA '06), Rosanne is a native of Kearny, New Jersey, and earned her undergraduate degree in Computer Science from St. Peter's College. Prior to her work at MBA, Rosanne has served as a systems analyst, and most recently was employed at another Nashville area independent school.
