The Carter
Building is named after legendary MBA Headmaster Francis E. ("Nick")
Carter, who led the school from 1957 until 1979. An original outbuilding
of the Totomoi estate, this structure was remodeled into classrooms and
an assembly/study hall early in the school's history on this site and
was known as "Old Science." In 1982 the building was extensively
renovated by the addition of a new stairwell and entry on the west side
and dedicated to the memory of Mr. Carter. In 1999 the building was demolished
and replaced with a larger building containing 12 classrooms on the 2nd
and 3rd floors, with the ground floor given over to the Academic Records
Office, College Counseling Office, Guidance Counseling Office, and Wilson
Commons. The new building, made possible through the generosity of Mr.
David K. Wilson and family, was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Carter
in October of 2000. |
