Montgomery Bell
Academy offers young men an exemplary
college-preparatory experience, assisting them to
be Gentleman, Scholars, Athletes, and young men of
wisdom and moral integrity who will make
significant contributions to society.
The Honor Code is an integral part of life at
MBA, promoting a strong sense of mutual trust and
respect among all members of the MBA community.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR
PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
Publication Experience for MBA
students includes working with computers to write
and produce all student publications. In the high
school, these publications include The Bell
Ringer, the student newspaper; The Bell,
school yearbook; and Archives, a
literary magazine. Junior School students write
and publish the Top of the Hill, a
newspaper, and a literary magazine entitled The
Buckeye.
Community Service is an integral
part of the MBA environment with opportunities
provided through the student Service Club, which
serves the Nashville community at large; Recycle
MBA; tutoring and sports programs through the YMCA
and other civic organizations; Habitat for
Humanity, Soup Kitchen, and a variety of on-campus
summer programs.
Parent Organizations are a vital
part of our school community. Both the Mothers
Club and the Fathers Club are engaged throughout
the year in a variety of projects which enrich our
school.
The Debate Program at MBA is a
nationally-recognized interscholastic program.
Exciting issues of public policy are debated in a
variety of national competitions and formats.
Traditional policy debate and Lincoln-Douglas
style competition center on nationally compiled
topics.
International Exchange Program -
Recognizing the responsibility to prepare students
for an increasingly globally-minded world, MBA
offers international exchange opportunities for
both students and faculty at peer institutions in
England, South Africa, and Australia. In addition,
MBA participates in the international exchange
program, ASSIST (American Secondary Schools for
International Students and Teachers). Our ASSIST
students have come from such countries as German,
Spain, Sweden, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic
and stayed with MBA families while attending the
school.
Sports - Sports are
a vital part of our community. At the Varsity
level, we participate in the Tennessee Secondary
School Associations (TSSAA), competing in 11
sports. Sports outside the TSSAA include lacrosse,
riflery, and hockey.
